Testimonials

“Parish groups and other religious organizations have little opportunity to be educated, entertained and inspired at the same time. The Blood & The Rose does all three, providing anyone serious in their faith an opportunity to discuss how this sacred image is really a lesson plan for God’s saving work. Its message is clear: We’re called to be simple, obedient and trusting, just as Juan Diego, and when we become more like him, we can then do what he did; announce the Good News, with the aid of the Blessed Mother, bringing God’s beauty to this world.”

“The Blood & The Rose reminded me of how beautifully our faith can be portrayed through the gift of media,” he said. “It was great to be able to go to a theater and think about our faith journey and the importance of becoming more spiritually involved in the Church.”

As Christians, it is crucial for us to know and to understand our history and our traditions, but even more important than this is the obligation that all of us share in building the Kingdom of God on earth in preparation for His glorious return.

The Blood & The Rose is the magnificent story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It begins with Mary’s fiat (“Be it done to me according to thy word” Luke 1:38) and moves through the Sacrifice on Calvary, the seed of Catholicism and the birth of Christianity. As the film so beautifully details, it’s a journey that flows from the Middle East through Europe to the evangelization of the New World.

Shot on location in Mexico and Spain, The Blood & The Rose (which was recently shown at World Youth Day in Rio) offers riveting interviews with top experts in the fields of science, history and theology, exploring the mystery of St. Juan Diego’s Tilma and the miraculous image that it bears.

More than just a story about a distant event, The Blood & The Rose - directed by Timothy Watkins (In the Face of Evil) with Executive Producer, Steve McEveety (The Passion of the Christ), and narrated by Eduardo Verastegui (Bella, For Greater Glory) - is an invitation and a calling to emulate St. Juan Diego in our own day, carrying the message of the Virgin of Guadalupe - Patroness of the Americas and Patroness of Life – into the culture in which we live.
